Luddy Center for Artificial Intelligence

Strong Tower was subcontracted by Weddle Bros. Building Group, LLC to provide the glazing and panel package for the Luddy Center for Artificial Intelligence (formerly known as the 11th Street Parking Garage/Office Building) located at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. This project included 58,000 gross square feet of academic/administrative space and a 370-space parking garage.

Strong Tower furnished and installed approximately 8,800 square feet of Kawneer 1600 SS Curtainwall System, thirteen 500 Wide Stile Entrances, and Kawneer’s Trifab 450 Framing System. The curtainwall, designed with a dual finish, required clear anodized interior and custom painted exterior known as Scroll Beige (Duranar Gray was used as well). Two fired-rated doors with sidelights were supplied by Aluflam North America, LLC. The fire-resistant frames were custom painted in Scroll Beige.

Strong Tower furnished and installed a variety of panels. Approximately 796 square feet of the curtainwall frames were glazed with custom Water-Jet Panels supplied by (DAMS) D. Architectural Metal Solutions, Inc. These panels were custom painted in a second color selected by the University. Additionally, 154 square feet of V-Groove and Projected Panels were supplied by East Coast Metal Systems; these panels were painted in the custom Scroll Beige.

(Low-E Coated) Clear exterior insulated glass, supplied by Viracon, was installed throughout the academic/administrative portion of the building.

The curtain wall and storefront framing system were fabricated at Strong Tower’s Fabrication Facility in Louisville, KY, and transported to the project site for field glazing.

This project’s duration ran from February to November 2020 which was in the center of the Covid 19 pandemic. Strong Tower remained steadfast following CDC guidelines for a successful installation.
